Video: https://youtu.be/i4SDcLir6OcPostdoctoral Research Fellow positionAt the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Clinical Dentistry, a full-time temporary position as postdoctoral research fellow is available for a period of two (2) years. The position can be extended for one (1) additional year, and it is part of the project ”TuniScaff”, financed by The Research Council of Norway, RCN.
About the project/work tasks:The position is allocated to tasks aimed at validating an innovative, 3D-bioprintedand tissue-specific scaffold for bone regeneration. Novel synthetic polymer scaffolds will be fabricated and functionalized with ultra-pure nanocellulose, bioresorbable ceramics, and/or mesenchymal stem cells to provide complementary regenerative functions.
The specific objectives of the project are to:
Fabricate and validate 3D-bioprinted polymer scaffolds with appropriate structural and physicochemical properties for bone regeneration
Develop, characterize, and validate a biodegradable ultra-pure nanocellulose for incorporation into tissue-engineered bone constructs
Evaluate the in vitro safety and regenerative potential of the developed materials, with particular emphasis on osteogenic and angiogenic responses
Evaluate the in vivo safety and regenerative efficacy of the developed materials, with particular emphasis on bone formation and vascularization
Qualifications and personal qualities:The applicant must hold a Norwegian PhD or an equivalent degree within regenerative medicine and dentistry or have the doctoral thesis submitted prior to the application deadline. It is a condition of employment that the PhD has been awarded at the latest within 5 months after the closing date for applications
Experience from relevant research projects will be considered as positive and favoured
Applicants with experience in 3D printing, bioprinting and culturing of mesenchymal stem cells is highly preferable
Experience in material characterization, computational engineering, programming and computer aided design will be prioritized
Work independently and in a structured manner, and have the ability to cooperate with others
The applicant must be fluent in oral and written English
The applicant’s personal suitability for the position is a significant factor in the evaluation.
About the position of postdoctoral research fellow:The position of postdoctoral research fellow is a fixed-term appointment with the primary objective of qualifying the appointee for work in top academic positions. You cannot be employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than one fixed term period at the same institution.
The employee may be assigned required duties in the form of teaching and similar work at the department.

Salary NOK 690 000 (code 1352) in the state salary scale. For applicants with a degree in Medicine or Dentistry, salary NOK 700 000. For applicants with a medical specialization, salary NOK 725 000 (Applicants with specialist training must include a certificate of specialist approval from the Norwegian Directorate of Health).
